In the locker room of Three Rivers Stadium, Puerto Rican baseball player Roberto Clemente (1934 - 1972) of the Pittsburgh Pirates holds the 3,000th bat and ball hit, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, September 30, 1972. Clemente, only the 11th player to reach 3,000 hit in baseball's history, made the play during a game against the New York Mets--the Pirates won 5-0.
